Downloaded MPC and worked OK. But can anyone tell me where I can alter the brightness range or ain't none?

Although I haven't used the one I just downloaded, I have been using Media Player Classic since stumbling apon it in the K-Lite CoDec pack... Probably the best Video Player available... Certainly hard to top... You can even drop a folder of mixed media on it (or it's shortcut) and it'll play them all... Even Elementary Streams! If there's and AC3 and MP3 or MP2, It'll put them on a Menu for you... Very usable and Well Thought Out...

BEST used with CCCP (cccp-project.net) as k-lite is xxx-gay. Unfornately the MPC now bundled with CCCP, Home Cinema Edition, does not want to capture thumbnails over time (File: Save Thumbnails) although it will save screencaps [in the correct render mode] (File: Save Image) To Save Thumbnails I need this, MPC, or non-Homecinema version. :( It reminds me of the days I once used a roll-your-own FFdshow setup -- thanks CelticDruid! I was looking up one afterdawn guide dealing with finding /adding subtitles to a movie using Media Player Classic. Unfortunately the latest version does not have the "Subtitle Database" menu item under "File" I have the latest version. Am I doing something wrong or is my installation damaged?

I use The KMPlayer mostly, but Media Player Classic is an essential app to have on your system for media playback. I don't use Windows Media Player (10) for anything.

Media Player Classic is being used on my system in place of Windows Media Player. I had found two bugs in it. 1) It freezes for about 15 to 30 seconds when file menu is clicked while DVD movie in the drive. 2) It will only play the first part of the full 800MB CD movie for less than a minute when movie burned on CD with Mode 2 CD Maker. Windows Media Player plays the complete movie just fine. Check to see if these problem does the same on your system. :)

This is a great Media Player that is very expandable. I don't know a codec that is incompatible with it.

I have a Pentium 4 Dell desktop computer with samsung dvd hardware. Unfortunately the guy I got the computer from (for free) removed the hard drive, and I had to install a new one. Needless to say, I needed a dvd decoder to play my dvds. I went high and low to find a free dvd decoder with no luck until i came across this web site. I downloaded the media classic player, and it works great. I would like to thank the genius who came up with the solution to my problem. Excellent work, dude.

I've been in the IT business for neary thirty years, and I'm not easily impressed... All I can say is WOW! I plugged in an external DVD drive to an ancient 300 MHz computer running Win2K (it started life as a Win95 computer) and VOILA! the DVD played as smooth as silk with Media Player Classic. Unbelievable!

GREAT SOFTWARE!! The only one that played my DVD!! I've got Real Player, Windows Medial Player and some Dell thing that came on my PC. They ALL crash every 10 minutes with my DVD of "Little Miss Sunshine". System just hangs and I have to eject the DVD restart the software etc. If you've got the same issue then download Media Player Classic whatever now! I'm certainly happy to donate something to the genius writers of this great software. It played the ENTIRE DVD and didn't hang once!! One great little feature i've just seen for badly dubbed films .... you can actually advance or retard the soundtrack! Brilliant. Andrew Smith (Ethiopia)

I've tried many "best rated" DVD player softwares. Some as trials the last one I bought and returned it was so bad. It seem a simple thing to ask: Give me the best picture possible and not something so stripped down it's practically useless. Well, this software is almost too good to be true. I'm waiting for my system to freeze or something ( like the last ones I used) but it has been very stable and has an excellent picture. I'll give this a good trial period to see if continues to be stable, but even now, it loads quickly and does an all around great job. I'm all for people making a great product and asking a fair price. This software is good enough you will want to pay for it because it is worth it. Do support those who made it available. This is as good as they say it is.

Finally !! A DVD decoder that really works! And free!!! (except that I WILL send a donation). I have attempted to download and run 3 other DVD decoders. All failed. The most recent, Roxio, (BOUGHT!) wouldn't even download. I tried 3 times. Failed every time and they won't respond to my e-mail. Thank you so much!!

Been using it for years, and suggest it to all my personal clients ( also suggest they make a donation to gabest!!! ) I not only WOULDN'T but CANNOT play the array of media types on any other player - I even use it to watch my outdoor webcam. I'm so grateful for this software. Microsoft Media Player refused to play many of my dvds, for whatever reason, and this software plays all dvd movies, etc, without a worry. And it's free!!

Oh my gosh! I have been trying for months to try to get my dvd player (external) to play dvds, but no matter what I did it would not do it. Bought software, updated drivers, etc. Downloaded MPC and it worked the first time. Thank you thank you thank you!

OMG... why have I been using regular Media Player all this time !!! Absolutely great for watching various video formats. However, I can tell a significant difference compared to Nero ShowTime for watching DVDs and listening to .mp3s is somewhat inconvenient without a built in library. Nevertheless, this is now an indespensable app on my PC.

Perfik !!! Out of 5 stars this deserves a 10 I've been a big supporter of WMP 6.4 since it came out in ninteen hundred and fried fish. By support I mean I have refused to use the later "heavy weights" which by the time they had opened and started to play a tune I'd gone off the idea all together, in favour of this little gem. It's very light, opens in a jiffy, plays any video/audio i have, Part of my re-install routine is to associate all A/V file to WMP 6.4 (away from WMP9 or 10) Although it supports playlists (.m3u notepad file) the only problem I ever had was when I have a bath I can't drag/drop a selection of multiple tracks onto it to last my whole bath time I saw this Classic version, downloaded and prayed Ureka! It works - big cheers for the guys still supporting the WMP6.4 and I hope you all live to be a hundred

Don't be misled... "extremely light-weight" is just one of it's many EXCELLENT features! This is a very intuitive and very versatile audio/video player! Once you dig into the simple menus, you'll be impressed! Resize, re-audio, remove title bar/frame... does an amazing number of formats, both audio and video. You really will consider making this your default player... it's that handy, quick, and easy to use. VERY convenient.

I wanted to play a DVD. Power DVD crapped out again, Windows Media player refused to play. Then I went online to search for alternatives and Media player Classic came up.I already had it installed to play Real Media.Open it up and it worked. For a free app this thing kicks.I yanked anything cyberlink from my comp. No more re-instals or players wanting to sell basic dvd playing decoders.

I LOVE media player classic. For so long I searched for non bloatware that would play a DVD. It was impossible. I tried to even find an old old version of windvd that wasn't skinned and loaded with junk. Then MPC appeared to have DVD support all of a sudden UNFRIGGINBELIEVABLE and its still only 2MB!

Wow. Two updates in one week. I really like how it now has integrated Musepack playback, but really dislike that I have to uncheck the "remember position" box whenever I want a file in Favorites. Is there a way to keep it off?

I needed to watch a 3in1 dvd on an old laptop and its software couldn't play it. Downloaded this and the films play like a dream, I can pick which film out of the three I want to watch by using one of the options. Pretty cool, works well on my windows 2000 laptop.

I have something I just wanted to say about this program that I noticed changed for the worse in my opinion. I've noticed that since 6.4.8.2, either because of a bug or the use of the 3D pixelshader, or because of the resizing feature, but it seems to have obtained a pixelated look to some videos when I look at it closely. I've never seen that before on other players when I play the same file. Just wanted to bring that to your attention. Also, I've noticed that some MP3s that I have that may have some parts of the stream missing don't play at all for some reason. Other than that, it's a fantastic program.

Wow! I don't know if it is a coincidence or what, but he added even more stuff to playback the PS2 files! That's how it should be. I really want to donate, but I am at a loss for free money right now. Can I also make a suggestion? Although this is pretty small in stature compared to the greatness that is MPC, it seems that you can't drag in whole folders that have more than 1 folder to get to. I think it would be a nice addition if Gabast could allow more than files within a folder to be added to play, but also include the folders within that folder. If that's confusing: say you have "x:\My Musicmusic", the music in "My Music" will play, but not the stuff in "music". I don't want to pry in the process any further, so I'll leave it at that. Thank you again for making such a wonderful product!

I Had No Idea That This Program had been updated since I had last downloaded it earlier this year when It was 6.4.7.6. This is by far THE BEST MEDIA PLAYER I HAVE EVER USED EVER!!!!!!!!!! All of my other media players are only their to give out codecs, and that's all. Coupled with the FFDSHOW, this is the greatest way to watch or play anything ever. I was so tired of trying to find a player that could play everything, using this, I can even Play back .PSS Files from PS2 games and have been able since then to create DivX Movies from some game movies to watch l8ter on my computer using MF Audio, CDex and Virtual Dub Mod. All in all, I would recommend this player to anyone who is sick of using Winamp or Real Player or just Windows Media Player, because it can do more than most all of them combined!
